    1857, 3¢ dull red, type III, cheek flaw, position 48R26, unused, without gum, couple small edge flaws, F.-V.F. appearance, a premium example of this striking flaw.

    1857, 3¢ dull red, type III, Progression Study of the "Large Crack", position 71L18, three used singles showing three stages of the crack, rich color, two with town cds, one ms. cancel, also includes Position 72L18 to show lack of progression of crack which is normally present in this position in later stages; couple flaws, F.-V.F. and rare assemblage, Great addition for an exhibit!

    1857, 3¢ dull red, type III, cracked plate, position 71L18, bold large crack showing advanced progression, tied by neat "Middlebury Vt. Jul 3" cds on immaculate ladies cover to Rutland Vt., an Extremely Fine gem use.

    1857, 3¢ dull red, type III, double transfer and line through "Postage" and "Three Cents", position 87R15, rosettes doubled, one line through label, deep shade, tied by "Millersville Md, Jan 11" cds on orange cover to Mystic Bridge Conn., reduced at left; accompanied by two 3¢ dull red (26 var.) singles, one with 3 dots on bust flaw and other with plate crack far upper right corner, unlisted, F.-V.F. and scarce group of plate varieties.

    1857, 3¢ dull red, rare "slip" RFL position, from plates H or Y (91LH or 91LY, Lund B-275), used with 12¢ black (36) , pos. 88L1, each canceled by magenta "X" cancel, matching ms. "Auburn N.Y., Oct 21st 1858" postmark on cover to Paris, France , 12¢ barely tied by red "New York 'Paid 6' Oct 23" credit exchange cds, carried transatlantic by on Inman Line City of Baltimore , French (11.9) entry cds, Very Fine and rare plate variety.

    1857, 3¢ dull red, type III, "Flaw Recuts on LL Rosette, so-called Rosette Repair" Study, singles on 15 covers, some plated, includes 9L24, 6R20, 8R25, 3R25, Chase plated, without flaw for reference, range of stamp colors and dates and repairs; some faults, F.-V.F., nice assemblage.

    1857, 3¢ dull red, type III, double plate flaw in neck and eye, Position 74R25, exceedingly well centered, tied by sharp "Worcester Mass. Deb 28" cds on clean cover to Groton Center, Mass., reduced slightly at right, Extremely Fine use of this unlisted flaw.

    1852-57, 3¢ dull red, Plate Flaws, group of six singles plated by Dick Celler, Rob Lund, Dr. Chase comprising pos. 34R20 with bust and eye flaw, 23R15 head flaw, bust flaw, scratch; 48R26 cheek flaw (thin); 56R28 big neck flaw; 97R6 bust flaw; light cancels, few small flaws if any, F.-V.F. and rare assemblage of plate flaws.

    1857, 3¢ brownish carmine, type III, Double Perforations, unused block of six, without gum, choice perforation freak, well centered, includes another perforation freak on a rose stamp with partial double perfs and double frameline at left, a Very Fine and striking exhibition pair.
