    Johnson's Island Prison, Sandusky, Ohio, prisoner's pink-lined envelope with neat "Prisoner's Letter, Examined J.C., Johnson's Island" examiner's oval, bearing 3¢ rose (65) tied by four-ring target duplexed with "Sandusky O. Feb 3 65"" cds to St Louis Mo.; opened for display; partial flap, partial backflap still quite scarce in exceptionally clean condition, Very Fine and attractive.

    The "JC" examiner's designation was John Coder used Jan. 18 to Jun. 20, 1865.

    Point Lookout, Md., incoming prisoner of war cover endorsed " Per Flag of Truce " at top bearing CSA 10¢ blue (12) and U.S. 3¢ rose (65) , both tied by segmented cork, matching bold "Old Point Comfort Va. Jan 17" cds addressed to CSA Prisoner T.J. Walker, comp 42nd Div, Point Lookout, Md., Care of Major A.G. Brady, Provost Marshal", large manuscript " L " examined marking; CSA 10¢ split prior to use, bottom backflap added, Fine and scarce, ex-Hedrin .

    T.J. Walker enlisted 12-31-62 as a Private in Co. D 42nd Virginia Infantry, taken prisoner at Mulberry Hill 5-27-64, transferred 1-27-65 for exchange. No further records.

    The large ms. "L" examined marking was used only in January 1865.
