    Steamer Lizzie Simmons was a sidewheel packet built in 1859 at New Albany Ind. She ran New Orleans-Memphis in 1862 until she was converted to a gun boat transport and renamed by the CSA as "Pontchartrain". In July 1863, she went up the Yazoo River to prevent capture, but was later destroyed by U.S. gun boat "General Price" at Little Rock, Arkansas on Sept. 10th 1863.

    From Steamer Osceola, clear strike of red oval on blue folded letter from Caldwell La. to New Orleans La., entered mails with red "New Orleans La., Jun 27" cds and "Way 11 Cents" handstamp, interesting slavery letter begins " Sir, you will please take that boy Simon out of jail for me and Iron him safe so that he cannot escape and send him to to me by Oceola and charge the Capt. to use caution if he please to not let him getaway. I will not sell him he shall seve me or die in the woods but when I get him again I know what to do with him… ", F.-V.F. with a wonderful slavery letter.

    Steamboat "Piota" was a sidewheel packet built in 1852 at Albany Ind., he home port. She went to New Orleans and ran the Mississippi and Red Rivers until 1854 when she caught fire and burned at Algiers.

    Packet Empress was a sidewheel packet built at Jeffersonville Ind. in 1850. She went to Mobile and ran Alabama Rivers until 1856 when she went to New Orleans. She was burned and lost at Algiers La. on June 29th 1858.
