Whiting & Co Express Paid, S.B., manuscript express company notation (with the SB likely standing for Stage Business) on stampless cover to Ohio, entered the mails with "Quincy, Cal. May 23" large cds and manuscript rate marking "Paid 10c"; likely very early use from Whiting & Co.'s Express before they had printed franks prepared; staining with ironed out heavy vertical crease and toned, Good.

Stock"; tiny corner repair at upper left, still, Very Fine.

Forwarding Merchants [etc.], printed advertising vertically at left of cover (Thomas WHT-401) on common Wells, Fargo printed frank with their blue oval "Sac Messenger" datestamp to Carson City, Nevada on 1864-65 issue 3c pink on buff entire (U59), original enclosure on Whitney's stationery datelined "San Francisco, Feb 5, 1886", so used well after their days of operating an express, Very Fine.

Express San Francisco., bold strike of black company oval and matching " Paid in oval handstamp on double-rate 6¢ red (U12) buff Nesbitt legal-size entire to Camptonville Cal., conjunctive blue " Langton's Pioneer Express Marysville. " circular company handstamp (Thomas LAN-105) and manuscript sender's directive "To be left at the Post Office unless there be an Express office at Galena Hill"; two pressed out vertical file folks, a couple small erosion spots repaired in address area, sealed tear at upper right into Langton's handstamp, Fine, cover not listed in the Thomas census. .
