May 23" large cds and manuscript rate marking "Paid 10c"; likely very early use from Whiting & Co.'s Express before they had printed franks prepared; staining with ironed out heavy vertical crease and toned, Good.

Express San Francisco., bold strike of black company oval and matching " Paid in oval handstamp on double-rate 6¢ red (U12) buff Nesbitt legal-size entire to Camptonville Cal., conjunctive blue " Langton's Pioneer Express Marysville. " circular company handstamp (Thomas LAN-105) and manuscript sender's directive "To be left at the Post Office unless there be an Express office at Galena Hill"; two pressed out vertical file folks, a couple small erosion spots repaired in address area, sealed tear at upper right into Langton's handstamp, Fine, cover not listed in the Thomas census. .

A RARE CONJUNCTIVE USE BETWEEN WINES AND LANGTON'S.
Wines & Co.'s Express operated from July, 1855 to 1857. Langton's Pioneer Express was the fifth iteration of Samuel Langton's express companies, operating from Feb, 1855 to Aug, 1864; thus, overlapping with Wines period of operation.
