John McHenry, San Francisco Cal., endorsed " pr Adams Express " at top left, lengthy three-page letter from H.C. Kelley with excellent content describes how he had to arrest at gunpoint a Mr. Moore and his wife, who, using a false key, broke into the dwelling portion of a store they once occupied and were caught moving out furniture. Kelly arested them for resisting an officer of the law and deputized a posse of 20 men to occupy the store and house to keep the Moore's there and secure the property, pending arrival of the Sheriff, Very Fine.

Jesse H. Swart purchased Almy's Oakland and San Francisco Express in May 1854 and ran a daily express service over the same route. By steamer he went between San Francisco and Oakland. From Oakland, he ran south to San Jose and north to Martinez. He had stops at Clinton, Alameda, Union City, and San Pablo. It is believed that he connected with Adams & Co at San Francisco. In December 1854, he sold out to Swift & Co Express.
