    (1856 Campaign) Millard Fillmore, large portrait campaign design with "Millard Fillmore" caption below on orange buff cover bearing 3¢ dull red (26) , rich color, tied by indistinct Aug. 6th town cds with preprinted address to J.H. Johnson, Printer, Publisher & Stationer, Philadelphia Pa.; light wrinkling at top, partial flap, Very Fine.

    Millard Fillmore was the candidate of the American Party. This campaign design was later used as a Civil War patriotic by adding red "Patriot" overprint at left (Milgram MF-2).

    (1856 Campaign) Millard Fillmore, oval portrait campaign design with additional hand-drawn ink caricature featuring parade of supporters , some carrying signs of " Fillmore + Donelson, Brooks + O'Dell ", " Old Bucks Goose is Cooked ", " No Mule Steaks " and " For Salt River, J C Freemont, Jas Buchanan " and address panel in large flag with Eagle finial, on yellow cover bearing 3¢ dull red (11) , large margins to slightly in, tied by bold "Rondout N.Y. Nov 3, 1856" cds to Dubuque, Iowa; cover tear and edge strengthening, Very Fine appearance.

    A SPECTACULAR MILLARD FILLMORE 1856 CAMPAIGN DESIGN, ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MILGRAM COLLECTION.

    One other Fillmore 1856 Campaign cover from Rondout N.Y. is known from the same sender with a different ink caricature featuring Tired Mule and Country Gentleman (Rumsey Sale 108 Lot 1228). The country gentleman is similar to the caricature in this design leading the supporter parade with a lantern.

    (1856 Campaign) Millard Fillmore, campaign design with portrait facing left in oval, printed miss-printed partly over edge on cover bearing 3¢ dull red (26) affixed over design and tied by double-strike of "Charlestown Ms. Dec 18" cds to Bloomington Ind., with original matching portrait campaign lettersheet datelined "Charleston, Dec 18th 1859", stain spot, F.-V.F. and unique matching campaign design pair.
