    Leavenworth City, Kas. Oct 19, cds with matching "Free" oval rating h.s. on immaculate 1861 " Executive Department, Colorado Territory " imprint cover addressed to Simon Cameron, Secretary of War, Washington D.C., fresh and Extremely Fine.

    Simon Cameron was President Lincoln's first Secretary of War serving March 5, 1861 to January 14, 1862.

    (Orleans Territory) 1808 (Nov. 21) New Orleans La. to Portsmouth N.H., forwarded to Dover, folded cover with perfect detailed "New Orleans, Nov 21" cds and manuscript "25" cent rating for over 500 miles, endorsed "Mail via Fort Stoddert" at lower left, inside "Nov 13 1808" origin docketing, Extremely Fine and choice strike.

    This Baton Rouge "10" ratemarker is the same marking used to cancel 5¢ 1847 Issue stamps. The finest example realized $64,900.

    Scrantonia, Pa., June 22, bold red fancy Split Rail postmark with matching "Paid" and "5" rating handstamps on 1850 folded letter from the Lackawanna Iron Works to Easton Pa., charge box "30" and "8" notations, Extremely Fine and choice strike of this rare fancy stampless marking; with 2013 P.F. certificate.

    The Scrantonia post office was established on February 12, 1850. The town name was changed to Scranton on Jan 23, 1851. This unusual postmark design is in the shape of the cross section of a railroad iron rail which where produced at the Lackawanna Iron Works.
