"Pointing Hand", manuscript pointing hand, partial "New Haven, Apr 16" cds adjacent and red "Post Office Business, Free" rating handstamp on orange buff cover to the Postmaster at New Haven, Vermont, original "Post Office, New Haven, Conn." letterhead enclosure datelined April 16, 1855 requesting letter for two patrons that were missent to Vermont, Very Fine and scarce official business concerning missent mail.

Feb 12 '64" origin cds to hospital in Chicago and forwarded to the General Hospital, Mound City Ill.; reduced at left, F.-V.F. and rare Chicago marking.

    The Mound City Civil War Naval Hospital was a naval hospital in Mound City, Illinois, used by the United States Navy during the Civil War. The hospital was established in 1861 in an existing brick building claimed by the U.S. government. It became one of the largest Union hospitals in the western states during the war.

    Richmond Va. "Mis.sent", red straightline and matching "Richmond Va. Dec 28" cds on 1846 Post Office Department Official Business folded letter bearing red "Washington D.C. Dec 26" with attached "Free" rating and free franked "J. Marron" to Germantown N.C., the letter from 1st Asst. Postmaster General S.B. Beach creates a Post Office at "Rough and Ready" in Stokes N.C. directing Joseph Banner, Postmaster at Germantown to begin supplying the office at "Rough and Ready" with mail both going and returning, Very Fine missent use.
