Oct 8" cds to Balm Pa., some wear and reduced slightly at right; accompanied by non-original matching Magnus For the Union, New Jersey lettersheet datelined " Arlington Heights, October 8th 1861 " with some interesting military content reading in part " …I have stayed to get my discharge so as to get in to the 9th Reg. but cannot make it out for they was afraid I would be a Captain or a lieutenant…there is going to be one of the greatest drills over to Washington to day ever known in America, both of which will be cavalry and Artillery… ", fresh and deeply colored, F.-V.F. and rare Magnus pair.
